What We Treat

Sports injury treatment in Hillsborough.

The tweak you played through. The ankle you still tape before every game. Getting back out there starts with a cause-first evaluation, not a guess, and it ends with a standard you actually pass.

Sound Familiar?

Does this sound like you?

  • Taping the same ankle before every game and calling it fine
  • A knee that behaves all week, then bites on the first hard cut
  • Warming up twice as long as everyone else just to feel normal
  • Pain that only turns up late in the game, when it matters most
  • Sitting out the last drill of practice so you can start on Saturday
  • Being told you’re cleared by someone who never watched you play

Two or more? Keep reading.

Why It Happens

The injury has a date. The setup started earlier.

An injury feels like an accident. Usually it’s the last item in a line of items. Training load that climbed faster than your tissue adapted to it. An old sprain that healed well enough to play on but never got its strength back. A hip that quietly stopped doing its share, so the knee covered the difference. And mechanics that hold up beautifully until you’re tired, which is exactly when the field asks the most of them.

None of that is visible in the replay of the moment it happened. It takes a cause-first evaluation to work out which one actually set you up. That’s why rest alone so often disappoints: the pain goes quiet, the setup stays exactly where it was. You’re not someone who quits mid-season. You’ve just never been given a reason to trust the leg again. Find the real cause and that changes.

The Honest Truth

A season is short. An unfinished injury isn’t.

If you keep waiting

  • You start favoring the good side, and the good side starts complaining too
  • The pain quiets down, the weakness stays, and it goes again at the worst possible moment
  • You lose a preseason to something that needed a plan, not another week off

If you start this week

  • You know what actually caused it by the end of visit one
  • Hands-on work starts the same day, and the loading happens in the gym this clinic sits inside
  • You get a plan with an endpoint, and a return-to-play standard you can actually pass

Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.

How We Fix It

The same four phases. Built for your sport.

Every plan has an endpoint. Here’s what the four phases look like when the goal is playing again.

From visit one

Pain

Calm it down first.

Hands-on work settles the angry tissue and clears the swelling and guarding out of the way, starting your very first visit.

Once the pain settles

Prime

Get the joint moving right.

Mobility and control work give back the range the injury took, so the joint stops borrowing motion from the one above it.

Once motion returns

Perform

Load it until you trust it.

Progressive strength and power work, done in the training facility this clinic sits inside, until the injured side holds up next to the other one.

Before you are cleared

Prevent

Go back on a standard, not a hunch.

Cutting, landing, and sprint mechanics get tested under real load before you’re cleared, and you leave with the work that keeps it from happening twice.

As a soccer player, I’ve had many injuries and have seen MANY physical therapists, but none can beat Christian Harris! I improved very fast and was back to playing very soon, but the cool thing about him is how he does not only care about the immediate results, but also the protection for the future. With Christian, not only did I get better, I got stronger and am now more protected.

Before: injury after injury, and a different physical therapist for each one

After: back playing, and better protected than before

Questions, Answered

What athletes ask before booking.

Often yes, with the load adjusted. Pulling you out of everything is the easy answer, not always the right one. At your evaluation we work out what the tissue can handle right now, what makes it worse, and what you can keep doing while the plan runs. Sometimes the honest answer is that a short pause protects the rest of your season, and you’ll hear that straight, with the reason behind it.

Because you pass a standard, not because the calendar says so. Being pain free is the start of that conversation, not the end of it. Before you’re cleared, the injured side gets tested against the other one for strength, control, and the movements your sport actually demands: cutting, landing, sprinting, reaching overhead. This clinic sits inside a working training facility, so that testing happens under real load instead of on a treatment table.

No. North Carolina has direct access, so you can book without a referral, and most sports injuries do not need imaging before treatment can start. Your first visit is a full hour. You work one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, every visit, and you walk out knowing what’s wrong and what happens next. If imaging or a surgical opinion is genuinely warranted, you’ll be told plainly and helped to get it.
