The exam decides, not the schedule. If what he finds does not point to manipulation, you will not get it, and you will hear exactly why.
One tool, used when the exam supports it, always inside a plan. Never the whole treatment, and never done to you without a reason you understand first.
What It Is
Spinal manipulation is a quick, controlled movement applied to a joint in your spine, usually near the end of the range it has available. It often comes with an audible pop. That sound is gas shifting inside the joint fluid. It is not a bone going back into place.
It is also not a treatment on its own. It is one option among several, chosen when the evaluation says this joint, today, is likely to respond to it, and skipped when it is not. What happens next matters more: the movement and loading that give your spine a reason to keep what the technique bought you.
You may have had this done somewhere before, without an explanation and without anything to do afterward. “He helped me get back to 100% after I’ve been to several other therapist and chiropractors in the past for the same issue.” Landon H.
Only when the exam supports it
What It Helps
Guard a stiff segment for another six months and the muscles around it start doing work they were never built to do.
What A Session Looks Like
1
The exam decides, not the schedule. If what he finds does not point to manipulation, you will not get it, and you will hear exactly why.
2
If it is a fit, you hear what will happen, where, and what it may sound like. Then you decide. No is a complete answer here.
3
Then the part that makes it last: movement, loading, and something to do between visits. The technique opens a window, the work keeps it open.
Why It Works
Room to move in a segment that was stuck.
A window where the right exercise finally lands.
Less guarding from the muscles around it.
One piece of a plan with an endpoint.
Questions, Answered
No. That sound is gas releasing inside the joint fluid, and it is not evidence of anything being realigned. Nothing here puts your spine back into place, because that is not what the technique does. What it can do is give a stiff segment room to move, so the rest of your plan has something to work with.
Then you do not get it, and your plan still works. Plenty of people say no, and there is more than one way to get a stiff joint moving. It is only ever offered after screening says it is appropriate, it is explained before it happens, and it is never the whole treatment.
